Is this fake?
What do you think?
I'd say it's a bit too much for me... Unless I see it repeat this performance.
UPDATE:
Although quite amazing, the video is genuine in the sense that the elephant is indeed applying paint to paper by herself. However, she is not consciously painting a free-hand (or free-trunk) "self-portrait" from memory as some commentators have suggested. Instead she is "creating" the portrait by using a practiced series of brushstrokes that she has previously been taught. (Click for the article)
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looked pretty original 2 me. And if it is, than OMG!!!!
(Did I say OMG ?!?)
We still say OMG and we were the ones who filmed Hong painting in Thailand.
ReplyDeleteWe hope everyone goes to www.ExoticWorldGifts.com to learn more and perhaps purchase a painting to help save the Asian Elephants from extinction. They are magnificent creatures.
Thanks for spreading the word and letting people know how they can make a difference!
We took the video while in Thailand in Oct 2007. We hand just paid Fair Trade prices for some purses for resale on our website from the longneck tribe - the women with the rings around their necks - and Liz wanted to visit an elephant camp. When they started setting up easels in the open space, I started recording what turned out to be this amazing video of an elephant painting the image of an elephant. You can hear my “Oh my God” comments as I am utterly amazed. Since then we have done filming with National Geographic for a program to air later this year.
